Glittering hair jewels… nearly nothing makes a girl feel prettier! Create your own hair piece by assembling vintage brooches to hair combs or headbands…. you need little more than jewelry wire and glue. We love this colorful, standout piece, but a monochromatic head topper is just as sweet (think pearls and clear stones).
Directions:
1. Gather a variety of sized brooches. Flea markets, thrift stores and Grandma's closet are all good starts.
2. Metal hair combs are easy to work with (and available at local craft stores). Be sure to lay out brooches first to determine design, making sure to vary size (and sparkle) for an over-all, eye catching piece.
3. When you've chosen the pins that work best, use a pair of needle nose pliers to carefully remove the needle head (stick) of the brooch.
4. Use heavy-gauge wire to temporarily secure brooches in place; weave the wire in and around openings in the brooch design.
5. Secure with glue; E6000 is a tough-as-nails glue that will keep heavy pins in place.
